5 APR 2023 · Sheila Wilson's guest today was Betty Ann Lauria, Certified Emotional Freedom Technique Practitioner with Emotional Freedom Technique International.
We spoke about what is Emotional Freedom Technique, she stated it is also known as tapping. Tapping is getting well-known and many people are doing it. Tapping is a program in which you use your fingertips and tap on many places on your face, collarbone, and under your arm. It is a simple procedure and it has been proven it works.
They discussed briefly tests done on cortisol levels. Before tapping, cortisol levels were high, after tapping the cortisol levels were much lower.
Tapping is being used in schools, psychiatric faculties, and many other places with good results.

29 MAR 2023 · Sheila Wilson's guest Liz Dalton R.N.BSN has worked many years as a nurse. She was assaulted in 2015 and to this day is having depression and PTSD. The assault happened in the patient’s room. Security was called. The police came in to evaluate and take the information on the issue. Supervisors were there. Liz told everyone about the incident when she could finally speak.
What happened after? Were the supervisors and colleagues supportive? Did the police file a report? Did security file a report? Did the person that assaulted Liz get arrested or go to Jail? Violence in hospitals is shocking. What is being done about this?

22 MAR 2023 · Sheila Wilson's guest today was Holly Brown executive director of FAB looking and feeling FAB.org. Holly has been a guest before and we spoke about the wonderful treatments she and her team do for clients.
Just think to yourself the physician just told you. You have cancer BUT we can help you by giving you radiation treatments. Okay, you are all set! However, from the radiation treatments, 85% develop moderate to severe burns. The skin reactions from the treatment were unexpected and negatively affected their quality of life.

14 MAR 2023 · Today Sheila Wilson's guest is Tracy Phillips R.N.BSN. Tracy has worked in hospitals for many years and worked in many departments. One of Tracy’s jobs was working on safety and quality for patients and employees. Healthcare workers get assaulted frequently and it was mentioned that a survey was done that showed 70-80% of nurses alone get assaulted by patients, patients' families, and even their friends.
Tracy spoke about the incident reports and how important they are to get data. Doing an incident report after being assaulted or threatened is a valuable tool. Having electronic charts make it easier to write incident reports. Having incident reports and documenting the threat and assault will only help to stop the violence. Once you realize that something is going on that shouldn’t, What do you do about it? You have acknowledged that something is wrong and think you should do something about it. You bring it to their attention. You go to human resources and find out they aren’t going to help, Your next step is to talk to the employer, That doesn’t work either, now you have to make a decision do you stay or leave? Is your workplace toxic!!!!

27 JAN 2023 · Sheila Wilson's guest today is Holly Brown, she is the Executive Director of her nonprofit that is called Looking and Feeling Fab, Inc.After developing a rash from chemotherapy infusions that caused havoc with her skin, Holly looked for solutions that could help her.
The journey to the information she found would change her life and perhaps she could help others with her solution.

Dr. Willians spoke about Dr. Paul Farmer, a physician he has known for quite some time and he recently died at the age of 62. Dr. Farmer, a physician who championed global health and sought to bring modern medical science to those around the world. Dr. Farmer believed that the “location and circumstances of your birth should never dictate the quality of your care” He was a prolific writer and authored numerous books. Meredith and Sheila spoke about how she got involved in so many volunteer jobs Like volunteer philanthropist, volunteer board of directors, and volunteer member of Emergency Nurse. Meredith speaks freely about paying things forward and helping others when they are in need.
They spoke about the patients in the Emergency room setting and the fear that they could be going through. We never know what some patients are going through or have gone through and a little kindness, A little assurance maybe even holding their hand for a moment will help them get through this hospital visit.
Meredith has a very special saying by Helen Keller that means a lot to her. “Alone can do little, together we can do much”

They spoke about the mental health issues and the fact that so much more is happening in the world today. It is alleged corporations want all the beds filled all the time, profits over patients? However, staffing is an issue. Nurses are leaving in numbers today; they are burned out and frustrated. Being a psychiatric nurse is a specialty. Like many other fields in nursing the coronary care unit, intensive care unit, etc. you can’t learn it in a week or 2 months. Just learning how the patient acts with their behaviors takes time. Is the patient pacing? or not eating? Yelling, talking to himself/herself or to a person that is not there.

15 JUN 2022 · Sheila Wilson's guest is Debra Falzoi the founder of Dignity together. Debra spoke on the power and control of the people that are in charge and how it can affect the employee. The employee can feel threatened, the job is being minimized, lies are being told, and s/he feels s/he is being pushed out and doesn’t know why.
The employee can get stress issues, psychological injury, and PTSD. They go to Human resource to complain about the incidents and finds out later that human resource does little or nothing. Where does that leave the employee?
