28 JUN 2023 · Is it possible to put the brakes on fast fashion and make it more sustainable?
The prevalence of fast fashion makes this industry largely unsustainable. However, there are a rising number of brands committed to making fashion more sustainable and environmentally friendly.

28 JUN 2023 · How sustainable are the brands you purchase from? In the past, not many people will have asked this question, but things are changing.
Sustainability has become an increasingly crucial factor in purchasing decisions. According to a recent survey by IBM, 60% of consumers are willing to change their shopping habits to reduce environmental impact.
Nearly eight in 10 respondents indicate sustainability is important for them. Of those who say it is very/extremely important, over 70% would pay a premium of 35% more, on average, for brands that are sustainable and environmentally responsible.
Awareness and education have been key to this shift in consumer behavior. People are demanding more transparency from brands they buy from, thanks to the likes of ecolytiq.
In this episode of the new Disruption Talks series, Sustainability in Retail, Jinder Kang, Innovation Consultancy Lead at Netguru, and Gio Giacobbe, CEO at ACBC, talk about whether brands can stay authentic while being sustainable.

28 JUN 2023 · How do we combat the growing food waste problem?
According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, reducing food loss and waste is key to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and pressure on land and water resources. An estimated 17% of total global food production is wasted, and 11% of that occurs in households.
However, if we are to improve sustainability in retail, we can’t ignore the 2% of estimated food waste in retail as well. Huge amounts of edible food are thrown out at supermarkets around the world, and the solution is not a clear-cut one.
In this episode of Disruption Talks, part of the ‘Sustainability in Retail’ series, Jinder Kang and Patrick Rowse discuss the food waste problem and sustainable technology in retail.
Jinder Kang is the Innovation Consultancy Lead at Netguru and is an advocate of human-centered design to drive businesses forward through product, service, and business strategy.
Patrick Rowse is the Sustainability Manager at Delivery Hero. As an experienced sustainability professional, Patrick has a passion for the environment and innovation. He is motivated by the concept of "tangible good" and using environmental economics to build sustainability directly into core business strategy.
