  • Mental Fitness | Awareness to action, taking care of mind, body, spirit, meditation and transformation practices and experiences

18 JUN 2024 · It's Men's Mental Health Awareness month – John and Mike share an initiative we're calling the "mental fitness gym" where we do daily practices with the Heare community to improve our mental, emotional, and spiritual well being. We discuss some fundamentals of physical and mental wellness: adequate sleep, sunlight, nutrition, movement, and social connection; as well as practices and tools that have helped us have transformational experiences such as meditations, breathwork, experiential exercises and therapies, cold plunges, retreats, and guided experiences with coaches and mentors. John shares some principles he learned from his recent intensive training such as movement and the body remembers what the mind does not, and Mike shares how Inside Out 2 represented core belief systems in such an interesting way. We touch on childhood development, how some core beliefs are formed, how we can repair as parents, and the inevitability of forming some limiting or false beliefs. We discuss doing the work to identify and challenge these beliefs in adulthood and to identify the truths that empower us and enhance our lives – all while acknowledging that the work is ongoing and as we strenghten our mental fitness, we grow in resilience and our ability to choose how to respond, rather than react to, life's circumstances.

The Heare Brotherhood mission is to forge a global brotherhood of support and growth.

What started as a vision and a dream has turned into a global brotherhood, with members from over 50 countries in every habitable continent.

We are creating a space where men can connect, support and strengthen each other, shoulder life’s burdens together, and realize that we are not alone on our journeys as men, as fathers, as brothers, as sons.

We dive into authentic conversations, with some laughs and some tears, covering topics like:

What is true masculinity? What is true brotherhood?
How to connect more deeply with ourselves, others, and our higher power.
What tools, concepts, and practices help us live our lives more fully.
How to become more present and authentic.
How intentional vulnerability demonstrates strength and courage.

We also give you a sneak peek into how we as the founders – John Moore, Justin Brey, Michael Allen, and Jason Rogers – have built this brotherhood. You’ll see some raw moments, some stories of success and failure, and some twists and turns of seeking to fulfill our mission of forging a global brotherhood of support and growth.

We are here to hear. Thanks for listening to and supporting the Heare Brotherhood podcast.
