21 APR 2023 · In this episode Colin hears about the housing scheme in Appledore, both from the perspective of Peter Reveley, secretary of the Appledore Community Land Trust, and from Karl Hine, Head of Community Housing at Aster who built the homes. A small village nestled on the side of a double estuary in north Devon, Appledore is typical of coastal communities in the South West with high levels of second homes and few opportunities for the younger generation to find somehwere to live locally.
15 AUG 2022 · In this episode Colin is in conversation with Jeremy Holton from the Parracombe Community Trust in North Devon and within the boundaries of Exmoor National Park. As well as proposing a small housing scheme, the Trust has provided a village shop & cafe and has taken over running the village hall.

Together they examine how to go about creating affordable housing in a rural community, the role of the rural housing enabler, working with Housing Associations and what the advantages might be of creating a Community Land Trust.

They also discuss how local people living or working within a National Park might find it difficult to afford housing.

However we mostly look at her own personal experiences as a member of a newly formed CoHousing scheme in Cumbria which aims to repurpose an old farm complex to create something more than just a roof over their heads for members of the group.
