It was the West Coast version of Coney Island, and like Coney Island, it was a destination for tens of thousands on any weekend day. It was a time before automobiles. Visitors arrived, first by horse and buggy, then by the Pacific Electric Red Car. Join Paul Miranda and Trish Tsoiasue in this journey down the memory lane of time.

About the image: Photograph of a Pacific Electric Railway car in Long Beach on opening day of the Long Beach line, July 4, 1902. The electric railroad car is at center and resembles a streetcar. A long arm reaches from the top of the car to an overhead wire. The car is dark-colored and bears the number 219, as well as the words "Long Beach". There are many people in the car and entering the car through doors at the front and back. Two young boys are watching in the foreground at left. A two story building can be seen in the background at left.
