Terrorism is, in the broadest sense, the use of intentional violence for political or religious purposes. It is used in this regard primarily to refer to violence during peacetime or in the context of war against non-combatants (mostly civilians and neutral military personnel). The terms "terrorist" and "terrorism" originated during the French Revolution of the late 18th century[3] but gained mainstream popularity in the 1970s during the conflicts of Northern Ireland, the Basque Country and Palestine. The increased use of suicide attacks from the 1980s onwards was typified by the September 11 attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C. in 2001. There are various different definitions of terrorism, with no universal agreement about it. Terrorism is a charged term. It is often used with the connotation of something that is "morally wrong". Governments and non-state groups use the term to abuse or denounce opposing groups. Varied political organizations have been accused of using terrorism to achieve their objectives. These include right-wing and left-wing political organizations, nationalist groups, religious groups, revolutionaries and ruling governments. Legislation declaring terrorism a crime has been adopted in many states. When terrorism is perpetrated by nation states, it is not considered terrorism by the state conducting it, making legality a largely grey-area issue. There is no consensus as to whether or not terrorism should be regarded as a war crime. The Global Terrorism Database, maintained by the University of Maryland, College Park, has recorded more than 61,000 incidents of non-state terrorism, resulting in at least 140,000 deaths, between 2000 and 2014.

4 NOV 2020 · As we look into who, what , where and why when it comes to trying to make sense of the senseless terror attacks that occur, let first try to uncover where it stems from.
Every lethal terrorist attack in the United States in the past decade and a half has been carried out by American citizens or legal permanent residents, operating either as lone wolves or in pairs, who have no formal connections or training from terrorist organizations such as al Qaeda or ISIS.
The homegrown terror threat poses a huge problem for U.S. law enforcement, as lone wolves are not communicating via email or on the phone with foreign terrorist organizations, the type of communications that can be intercepted by the U.S. intelligence community. How will it ever be stopped?
After graduating from West Point, Colonel Gillem served 22 years in the Army, first as an Airborne Ranger with two combat tours, for which he was awarded two purple hearts and seven awards for Valor. Colonel Gillem also served as a Mideast War Planner while serving at US Readiness Command.

Dr. Purcell started using the terms "spiritual abuse" and "spiritual terrorism" early in the 1990's. He presented on these topics to counselors, social workers, hospice personnel, chaplains, and other clergy at various local, state, regional, national, and international conferences. Evaluations were always overwhelmingly positive. Many participants reported that they had never heard of these terms but recognized that they had been spiritually abused. Some clergy and mental-health professionals realized that they had failed to recognize it in former patients and had, consequently, not been able to help them very much and had lacked the knowledge to have made a helpful referral. - www.healingspiritualterrorism.com
