13 JUN 2020 · From 1962 to 1963 the BBC aired a satirical show about the news, “That Was the Week That Was,” that later crossed the pond to NBC in 1964. David Frost, and others, would pick apart the week's current events, highlighting the ridiculous. The week that just ended would have been perfect for their show.

22 MAR 2020 · Just catch the news — radio, television, newspaper or Internet. You get a consistently gloomy outlook. Switch to Christian media and it is just as bad, maybe worse. The church's perspective hasn't always been so pessimistic. In the late 1800s into the early 20th century there was a popular teaching that the world would get better and better until Jesus returns. All that effectively ended with World War I. Or did it?

17 NOV 2019 · Back in the 60s there were a lot of kid shows on TV. The hosts typically played friendly policemen, sea captains and firemen, and introduced cartoons or 10-minute Three Stooges movies. But one of these hosts stood out above the rest. "Esquire" magazine's front page story called Fred Rogers a national hero.
18 AUG 2019 · The Kendrick brothers, who saw their previous film — 'War Room' — become a number one box office hit, are hoping to see it happen again. But 'Overcomer' has a different theme, one that is under-represented in Christian movies.

15 JUN 2019 · Emanuel Connects Us with Tragedy and Triumph
Some historical events are etched in our minds by date, or at least by the dates when we traditionally remember them — December 25th for Christmas, July 4th for Independence Day, but how about June 17th? That's when nine members of Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, one of the oldest black congregations in South Carolina and possibly in the United States, were fatally shot by a white gunman. The movie, ‘Emanuel’, helps us to remember. It also helps us to understand in a way that wasn't possible in the chaos of the tragedy in 2015.

23 MAR 2019 · What happens when you ask a Ku Klux Klan leader and a black activist to work together in 1970s North Carolina? Something like throwing gasoline on the fire? Well, not exactly, but you will see burning gasoline and more importantly, people changing for the better — even profoundly — in "The Best of Enemies."

2 FEB 2019 · Politicians used to curry favor by kissing babies, but Virginia Governor Ralph Northam hopes his 'politically correct' stand of extending abortion to newborns will win you over. However, a controversial photo from 1984 is losing him support among Democrats.

20 JAN 2019 · Imagine two knights racing toward each other with lances positioned for impact. The first lowers his weapon. The second keeps on coming, unmoved by his opponent’s interest in avoiding a tragedy. Donald Trump has just offered a compromise to address the border crisis and the government shutdown. Nancy Pelosi rejected it even before he announced his deal.
