The Chicago export has been with us in Milwaukee since 2021 but has worked all over the country in his career. Like most people who spend any amount of time in the 414, Gerron has a deep love and appreciation for the city and it shows through his entertaining social media presence, his news reporting and as co-host of the long running Milwaukee political show "UpFront". HYFIN's Anthony Foster talked with Gerron about his love of music: from his mother's love of 90's R&B, his father's connection to old school hip hop and his affinity to tear up the (karaoke) club. We also talked about the value of "pop" music and how one develops an appreciation of "good songs". The Howard alumnus shared great insight on his personal journey from newsrooms in Louisiana to the mornings on WISN.

31 MAY 2023 · Stacia Thompson, Ed.D. is a Milwaukee treasure and self-proclaimed 90’s music aficionado. This fact alone makes her an exemplary guest for this edition of Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow. Born and raised in Racine, Wisconsin, and deeply connected to her hometown, she came of age in the ‘golden era’ of music: the 90s. She graduated from Saint Louis University, and luckily for us, she returned back to Wisconsin to work in higher education. Currently, she is the executive director of the Sherman Phoenix Foundation, the non-profit arm of Milwaukee’s premier hub for entrepreneurs. The Sherman Phoenix holds more than 25 small black-owned businesses and is an incubator program for those businesses to maintain, grow and flourish. As always with YTT, we dig deep into how music has always accompanied Thompson through the amazing journey that lead her to Milwaukee. With hip hop turning 50 this year, it was only right for Thompson drop some BARS on us. She talked with HYFIN's Anthony Foster about breakdancing, finger waves, the bobs and weaves of getting her doctorate, the always influential Ms. Lauryn Hill and why using your platform is sometimes bigger than the music itself.

26 APR 2023 · LeRoy Butler is an ICON, all caps, in Wisconsin. His football resumé is top-tier. Having played 12 seasons in the NFL, all with the Green Bay Packers, he is a four-time All-Pro and a member of the vaunted NFL 1990 All-Decade Team.These feats led Butler to another honor last year: the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He is one of only 371 players (out of 23,204) with this prestigious distinction. However, he is more than an athlete. Butler is a father, husband, a motivational speaker and a proud Wisconsin resident. He also goes by DJ What What. As always with Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow we tie all of these layers together, with the Jacksonville born legend, through the music, songs and artists that have shaped him.
