The 16th Street Baptist Church bombing was a white supremacist terrorist act committed by four members of a local KKK chapter on September 15th, 1963. They planted 19 sticks of dynamite attached to a timing device under the steps of the church. The bomb exploded and killed four young girls and injured 22. Due to shady work by the FBI (as usual), no prosecutions were conducted until 1977 and it wasn't until 2002 that the last member of the group was sentenced.
