Today I interview Aled Ab Lorwerth of CMHC about a report CMHC issued saying Ontario needs 1.8 MM extra houses build in the next eight years if we are to have any semblance of housing affordability.

Aled Ab Lorwerth has been at CMHC as deputy chief economist since 2016. Prior to then he had held a series of positions in economic research, mostly at the federal Department of Finance. Aled has a Phd in economics from Western University, London, and was born in Richmond Hill, but grew up in Wales - hence the Welsh name.
The main questions we discuss relate to the housing market - why should we worry about affordability, what has been driving house prices, what should we do about it - increase supply! And who is responsible - municipal governments!
