Mike has conducted policy research on the nexus between regional economic development, innovation, housing, and climate policy in previous positions at the Mowat Centre, Lawrence Centre, Canada 2020, and for the federal government where he was Canada’s first ever Chief Innovation Fellow. Mike talked about the housing affordability crisis in the Greater Toronto and in urban centres across Canada. Brian Crombie closed the show with his own opinions on four plexes and what needs to be done to address this housing crisis.

Axel and Pieter, who have both been residents of Mississauga for over 45 years, are working with the Mississauga Residents’ Association Network (MIRANET) and their own Ratepayer Group and have really torn into understand the City budget. Their numbers are right, the city numbers take the Mississauga tax increase and divide it by the taxes for both Mississauga and the Region of Peel and thereby under represent the tax increase by almost three fold. Tax increases of 6 % + will double your taxes in ten years. This is in unsustainable and unaffordable.
