Story Transcript:

En: In the corner of a bustling traditional market, Agus and Sari walked side by side.

En: The scorching sun shone above, warming the bustle of the place.

Id: Agus haus sekali.
En: Agus was very thirsty.

Id: "Mau minum apa, Agus?" tanya Sari sambil menenteng tas belanja yang berisi sayur dan buah-buahan.
En: "What do you want to drink, Agus?" Sari asked, carrying a shopping bag filled with vegetables and fruits.

Id: "Minum apa saja yang segar. Kau pilihkan untukku ya, Sari?" jawab Agus.
En: "Anything refreshing. Would you pick one for me, Sari?" Agus replied.

En: As they looked for a place that could offer them a refreshing drink, Sari and Agus stopped at a small eatery at the end of the market.

En: In the eatery, they saw various cakes and a variety of tantalizing jams.

Id: "Selai buah!
Look, Agus, there's strawberry and rambutan jam. Want to quench your thirst with jam and bread?" Sari pointed to the neatly arranged jars on the table.

En: Agus pointed to a tempting red jar. "That one looks delicious. I'm sure it's sweet fruit jam!" he said eagerly.

En: Without asking for an explanation from the eatery owner, Sari took the red jar and spread it on a piece of prepared bread.

Id: Setelah memberikan potongan roti olesan selai merah pada Agus, Sari pun mengambil potongan lain untuk dirinya sendiri.
En: After giving a piece of bread spread with red jam to Agus, Sari took another piece for herself.

Id: Saat gigi Agus menggigit roti, matanya langsung terbelalak.
En: When Agus bit into the bread, his eyes widened. The sweet flavor he expected turned out to be a pungent attack of spiciness!

Id: "Aduh, pedas! Ini bukan selai buah, ini sambal!"
En: "Ouch, it's spicy! This isn't fruit jam, it's chili paste!"

Warnanya hampir sama, tapi baunya... sangat berbeda!"
En: Sari, who was about to put the bread in her mouth, was also surprised. She chuckled and brought the piece of bread closer to her nose, "Oh Agus, this is indeed chili paste, not jam! The color is almost the same, but the smell... so different!"

"Aku kira pedasnya cinta," kelakar Agus berusaha mencairkan suasana.
En: Agus's face turned red, not just because of the spiciness on his tongue, but also from embarrassment at his own mistake. "I thought the spiciness was love," Agus joked, trying to lighten the mood.

En: They both laughed, and the eatery owner who saw the incident also laughed. "Wow, Sir, this is indeed our special chili paste. It's really, really spicy!" said the eatery owner, offering a drink to help ease the spiciness in Agus's mouth.

En: Even though they laughed, Sari felt sorry for Agus. "Come on, I'll get a young coconut ice to get rid of the spiciness," said Sari, and they both went to a young coconut ice seller nearby.

En: After drinking the refreshing young coconut ice, the spiciness in Agus's mouth slowly faded. He felt grateful to have a friend like Sari who was always there in moments of panic and laughter.

En: With a still pounding heart and a tongue that could still feel the lingering spiciness, Agus promised himself that next time, he would make sure of what he was eating or drinking before rushing.

En: Agus and Sari then continued shopping with joyous hearts. Agus decided to take the jar of chili paste home as a memento of the unforgettable incident at the traditional market.
