Story Transcript:

En: In the heart of Belgrade, in the ancient Kalemegdan, people gathered on a clearing.

En: The sun was slowly setting, and the sky was tinged with various shades of red and orange.

Sr: Među ljudima su bili Jovan, Ana i Milica, prijatelji oduvek, spremni da plešu i proslavljaju.
En: Among the people were Jovan, Ana, and Milica, lifelong friends, ready to dance and celebrate.

En: Jovan was tall and strong, with a beard he was proud of.

En: Ana, always smiling, wore a new blouse, white with embroidery resembling the sun.

En: Milica, on the other hand, was the lively spirit of the group, always ready for a joke.

En: As the traditional music began to play, everyone held hands and started the circle dance.

En: Jovan was a bit nervous, as he was not the best dancer, but Ana was by his side, and he wanted to impress her.

En: He held a glass of rakija in his hand, which he did not want to let go of.

Sr: Ples je postajao sve brži i življi, a kolona plesača sve duža.
En: The dance became faster and livelier, and the line of dancers grew longer.

En: At one point, while spinning around, Jovan accidentally swung his hand.

En: Rakija spilled from the glass, and a stain appeared on Ana's new blouse.

En: Ana stopped, looked at her blouse, and a look of surprise and sadness appeared on her face.

En: Milica tried to calm the situation, but Jovan already felt his cheeks reddening with embarrassment.

En: "I'm sorry, Ana," Jovan said softly, while people around them continued to dance.

Sr: Ana je pogledala Jovana i videla iskrenost u njegovim očima.
En: Ana looked at Jovan and saw sincerity in his eyes.

Sr: "Nema veze, Jovane.
En: "It's okay, Jovan.

Sr: To se desilo slučajno.
En: It was an accident."

En: But Jovan didn't want the evening to end like this.

Sr: Odlučio je da nadoknadi Ani.
En: He decided to make it up to Ana.

En: He rushed out of the circle and returned with a beautiful shawl that he bought from a vendor at Kalemegdan.

Sr: "Ovaj šal neće zameniti tvoju bluzu, ali možeš ga nositi večeras", rekao je pružajući joj šal.
En: "This shawl won't replace your blouse, but you can wear it tonight," he said as he handed her the shawl.

Sr: Ana se nasmijala i prihvatila šal.
En: Ana smiled and accepted the shawl.

Sr: "Hvala ti, Jovane.
En: "Thank you, Jovan.

Sr: Stvarno si divan prijatelj.
En: You're a wonderful friend."

En: They joined the line of dancers again, this time Ana carefully wrapping the shawl around her shoulders, and Jovan decisively leaving the glass aside.

Sr: Milica je tapšala u takt dok je veselo posmatrala svoje prijatelje kako plešu u noć, u srcu Beograda, dok je tvrđava Kalemegdan šaptala priče starog grada.
En: Milica clapped along to the rhythm as she joyfully watched her friends dance into the night, in the heart of Belgrade, while the Kalemegdan fortress whispered stories of the old city.
