Story Transcript:

He: במרכז של תל אביב, בין הבתים הגבוהים והרחובות המוקשתים, עמד אברהם, רחל ויוסף והיו מחפשים שפה משותפת.
En: In the center of Tel Aviv, among the tall buildings and winding streets, stood Abraham, Rachel, and Joseph, looking for a common language.

He: הגיע אליהם תייר אמריקאי, ג'ון, וזה היה אתגר.
En: An American tourist, John, approached them, presenting a challenge.

He: לא האתגר הרגיל של הלשון.
En: Not the usual challenge of language.

He: האתגר היה להסביר לו את המושג "תכל'ס".
En: The challenge was to explain to him the concept of "tamam."

He: אברהם, איש הפשט, ניסה להסביר בעזרת דוגמאות מחיי היום יום: "תכל'ס, זה כמו כשמשנים גיר או משתמשים ב- GPS, אתה מתעלם מהדרך שהסבירו לך במלון והולך בדרך הקצרה ביותר".
En: Abraham, a man of simplicity, tried to explain using examples from everyday life: "Tamam is like when you change a gear or use GPS, ignoring the route explained to you at the hotel and taking the shortest path."

He: רחל, מהיותה אינטליגנטיה ריאלית, לקחה את הדברים למקום מופשט יותר: "תכל'ס, זו מילה שמייצגת את הפשרה האמיתית, המהות של דבר מסויים, למשל, מה המטרה, מה המשמעות, מה הנקודה".
En: Rachel, being a realistic intellectual, took things to a more abstract place: "Tamam is a word that represents the true essence, the core of a particular thing, for example, what is the purpose, what is the meaning, what is the point."

En: Joseph asked, "that's it, that's the tamam of espresso.

En: The wine is the most important part, the part that gives you the energy you need."

He: ג'ון, התייר, מיהר לכתוב את העצה במחברת המסע שלו.
En: John, the tourist, hurried to write the insight in his travel journal.

He: הבנת מושג כל כך ישראלי, בעזרתשלושה ישראלים רנדומלים, בעיר הכי ישראלית שיש, נתנה לו התחשבות חדשה למילה "תכל'ס".
En: Understanding such an Israeli concept, with three random Israelis, in the most Israeli city there is, gave him a new perspective on the word "tamam."
