Story Transcript:

Ja: 秋の空気がさわやかに漂う上野動物園では、子供たちの興奮した声があちこちから聞こえてきました。
En: At Ueno Zoo, where the autumn air drifted refreshingly, the excited voices of children could be heard from all around.

Ja: 学校の遠足で訪れた子供たちが、様々な動物たちを見て歓声を上げています。
En: The children on a school trip were exclaiming with joy as they saw various animals.

Ja: その中で、動物の世話をする一人の飼育員、ヒロシはちょっと困っていました。
En: Amidst this, one of the zookeepers, Hiroshi, was a bit troubled.

Ja: ヒロシは鳥が大の苦手です。
En: Hiroshi has a great fear of birds.

Ja: しかし今、彼は逃亡癖のあるペンギンを捕まえるという大きな問題に直面していました。
En: However, he was now facing a big problem of capturing a penguin with a habit of running away.

Ja: そのペンギンは、あちらこちらの檻を抜け出し、動物園中で騒動を起こしているのです。
En: This penguin was escaping from one enclosure to another, causing chaos throughout the zoo.

Ja: 「またペンギンが逃げたのか？」と、冷静な仲間の飼育員ナオミが言いました。
En: "Has the penguin escaped again?" said the calm fellow zookeeper Naomi.

Ja: 「早く見つけないとね。」
En: "We need to find it quickly."

Ja: しかし、ヒロシは心の中でドキドキしていました。
En: However, Hiroshi was nervous inside.

Ja: 彼は皆に鳥が怖いことを知られたくありませんでした。
En: He didn't want everyone to know that he was afraid of birds.

Ja: それなのに、そのペンギンはどこにでも現れていました。
En: Yet, that penguin seemed to appear everywhere.

Ja: そこへ、突然小さな声が聞こえました。
En: Suddenly, a small voice was heard.

Ja: 「あのペンギンはどこにいるの？」と、好奇心旺盛な子供のユキが尋ねました。
En: "Where is that penguin?" asked the curious child Yuki.

Ja: 彼女はヒロシの後をつけてきていました。
En: She had been following Hiroshi.

Ja: ヒロシは思わず立ち止まり、困惑しました。
En: He stopped involuntarily, puzzled.

Ja: 「うん、今探しているんだ。」
En: "Uh, I'm looking for it now."

Ja: すると、二人はコアラの檻のそばでその問題のペンギンを見つけました。
En: Then, the two of them found the troublesome penguin near the koala enclosure.

Ja: ペンギンは優雅に歩き回り、特にコアラの木をくるくる回っていました。
En: The penguin was gracefully wandering around, especially circling the koala tree.

Ja: ヒロシは一瞬後ずさりしましたが、ユキが言いました。「大丈夫だよ、ヒロシさん。あのペンギン、ただのペンギンだよ。」
En: Hiroshi recoiled for a moment, but Yuki said, "It's okay, Hiroshi-san. It's just a penguin."

Ja: その言葉に勇気をもらったヒロシは、震えをこらえながら歩み寄りました。
En: Encouraged by those words, Hiroshi approached, suppressing his trembling.

Ja: ユキも一緒に側にいてくれました。
En: Yuki stayed by his side too.

Ja: そして、ヒロシはなんとかペンギンを捕まえることができました。
En: And Hiroshi managed to catch the penguin.

Ja: 「やった！」とユキが叫びました。
En: "Yatta!" Yuki shouted.

Ja: ペンギンは無事に元の檻に戻されました。
En: The penguin was safely returned to its original enclosure.

Ja: ユキは飼育員の仕事の素晴らしさに感心して、一日を終えました。
En: Yuki was impressed by the wonderful work of the zookeepers and ended her day.

Ja: ヒロシは自分の恐怖を克服し、小さな動物がそれほど怖いものではないことを実感しました。
En: Hiroshi overcame his fear and realized that small animals weren't so frightening.

Ja: 日が暮れ始めるころ、上野動物園は秋の穏やかな雰囲気に包まれていました。
En: As the day began to end, Ueno Zoo was enveloped in the peaceful ambiance of autumn.

Ja: ヒロシは少しだけ自信を持って、また明日もペンギンを見守る心構えをしました。
En: Hiroshi, feeling a bit more confident, prepared to keep watch over the penguins again tomorrow.
