Story Transcript:

Ga: Lá amháin, i gcroílár na Gaillimhe, bhí aisteoir sráide ar an gcéibh ag mothú dúil mhór in oidhreacht agus cultúr na hÉireann.
En: One day, in the heart of Galway, a street performer felt a great interest in the heritage and culture of Ireland.

Ga: Bhí Sean ábalta, le Aoife agus Niamh ina theannta, an mhír seo dá saol a roinnt.
En: Sean, with Aoife and Niamh by his side, was sharing this part of his life.

Ga: Bhí slua mór cruinnithe, agus iad go léir ag éisteacht go géar.
En: A large crowd had gathered, all listening intently.

Ga: "An bhfuil scéal agaibh faoi phota óir?
En: "Do you have a story about a pot of gold?"

Ga: " arsa seanfhear sa slua.
En: asked an old man in the crowd.

Ga: D’éirigh Sean neirbhíseach ach bheartaigh sé scéal a insint.
En: Sean became nervous but decided to tell a story.

Ga: Bhí an bheirt cailíní Aoife agus Niamh an-chairdiúil le Sean ón gcéad uair a casadh orthu é, agus iad ag siúl trí shráideanna ársa na Gaillimhe.
En: The two girls, Aoife and Niamh, had been good friends with Sean since they first met him, as they walked through the ancient streets of Galway.

Ga: Lá breá samhraidh a bhí ann, an ghrian ag scaladh síos go bog ón spéir, agus Sean ag scéaltaíocht.
En: It was a beautiful summer day, the sun gently descending from the sky, and Sean storytelling.

Ga: "Bhuel," arsa Sean le grin as a chluas go cluas, "tá scéal agam go cinnte.
En: "Well," said Sean with a smile, "I do have a story for sure.

Ga: Ach ní scéal coitianta é, níl, éistigí anois.
En: But it's not a common tale, no, listen now."

Ga: "Bhí Sean ag spaisteoireacht gar do cheann de na seanréadmhaoine i nGaillimh nuair a chuala sé bean ag caint faoi phota óir i bhfolach.
En: Sean was strolling near one of the old folks in Galway when he heard a woman talking about a hidden pot of gold.

Ga: D'fháisc an scéala a aird láithreach.
En: The story immediately caught his attention.

Ga: Dúirt sí go raibh an pota óir i bhfolach ag deireadh bogha báistí, agus go raibh doras beag draíochta mar gheata chuig an seod luachmhar.
En: She said the pot of gold was hidden at the end of a rainbow, and there was a small magical door, like a gate to the precious treasure.

Ga: Doras chomh beag le doras sióga a bhí ann.
En: It was a door as small as a fairy's door.

Ga: Meallta ag an scéal agus an fhonn saibhreas, shleamhnaigh Sean ar shiúl ó Aoife agus Niamh gan focal a rá.
En: Captivated by the story and the desire for riches, Sean slipped away from Aoife and Niamh without a word.

Ga: Shroich sé an áit chéanna agus bhí doras beag adhmaid os a chomhair.
En: He reached the same place and there was a small wooden door in front of him.

Ga: Gan smaoineamh faoina bhfadhb atá i ndán dó, chrom sé síos agus thosaigh sé ag streachailt isteach sa doras sáinnithe.
En: Without thinking about the trouble that awaited him, he bent down and started to struggle to get through the locked door.

Ga: Bhí Sean greamaithe sa doras, agus óstach mór amhrasach sluaite sléibhe ina thimpeall.
En: Sean was stuck in the door, and a large skeptical mountain crowd surrounded him.

Ga: Ach in ionad scaoll, chuir sé gáire air.
En: But instead of scolding, they laughed.

Ga: Bhí sé i bhfostú go mór nuair a tháinig Aoife agus Niamh thart ag lorg a gcara.
En: He was very embarrassed when Aoife and Niamh came looking for their friend.

Ga: Chonacthas dóibh Sean agus é sáite sa doras.
En: They saw Sean stuck in the door.

Ga: Thosaigh siad ag gáire freisin, i dtús báire, ach ansin chabhraigh siad le Sean teacht as an bpoll.
En: They started laughing too at first, but then they helped Sean out of the hole.

Ga: "Déanaimis iarracht le chéile,” arsa Niamh, agus thosaigh siad ag tarraingt ar Sean.
En: "Let's try together," said Niamh, and they started pulling on Sean.

Ga: Tar éis iarrachtaí crua agus go leor gáire bhrúidiúil, éirigh leo Sean a tharraingt amach an doras.
En: After hard attempts and lots of hearty laughter, they managed to pull Sean out of the door.

Ga: Bhí a chuid éadaigh bheagán stróicthe agus aghaidh scamallach, ach bhí sé slán.
En: His clothes were a bit torn and his face dirty, but he was safe.

Ga: "Níl pota óir ar bith ann, a chairde," arsa Sean agus é ag gáire go híorónach, “ach tá ceacht luachmhar foghlamtha agam faoi luach fíorchara.
En: "There's no pot of gold at all, friends," said Sean, laughing heavily, "but I've learned a valuable lesson about the true value of friendship."

Ga: "Ag deireadh an lae, bhí Sean, Aoife agus Niamh ag suí le chéile cois na habhann, sásta as a n-eachtraí agus as an gcairdeas atá acu.
En: At the end of the day, Sean, Aoife, and Niamh sat together by the river, happy with their adventures and the friendship they had.

Ga: Ní thoradh óir a bhí tábhachtach dóibh, ach na chuimhní a chruthaigh siad agus an ceangal a neartaigh eatarthu.
En: It wasn't the gold that mattered to them, but the memories they created and the bond they strengthened.

Ga: Agus mar sin, i gcathair na Gaillimhe, d'fhoghlaim Sean agus a chairde an ceacht is ársa agus is luachmhaire: gurb í an chairdeas an tseoid is lonraí díobh go léir.
En: And so, in the city of Galway, Sean and his friends learned the oldest and most valuable lesson: that friendship is the most precious treasure of all of them.
