Story Transcript:

En: The sunlight shone on the rooftops of the old city of Dubrovnik.

En: The streets buzzed with tourists and locals, everyone hurrying off somewhere.

Hr: U srcu tog kamenog blaga, naš trojac Matija, Ivana i Luka upijali su čari ljeta.
En: In the heart of this stone treasure, our trio, Matija, Ivana, and Luka, soaked in the charms of summer.

Hr: Matija, poznat po svojoj šaljivosti, odluči istražiti labirint uskih ulica, gdje svaki kamen priča priču.
En: Matija, known for his humor, decided to explore the labyrinth of narrow streets where every stone tells a story.

Hr: Nije prošlo dugo, a Matija se našao pred starom statuom usred Straduna.
En: It wasn't long before Matija found himself in front of an old statue in the middle of Stradun.

Hr: Smiješeći se, Matija se obrati kipu: "Dobar dan, gospodine, kako ste danas?
En: Smiling, Matija addressed the statue, "Good day, sir, how are you today?"

En: He didn't realize the statue was just a statue, not a street performer.

Hr: Za to vrijeme, Ivana i Luka su sjedili u kafiću 'Gundulićeva poljana', pijući hladne sokove.
En: Meanwhile, Ivana and Luka sat in the café 'Gundulićeva poljana', sipping cold drinks.

Hr: Ivana, s lepezom u ruci, primijeti Matiju kako se zagledao u statuu.
En: Ivana, with a fan in her hand, noticed Matija staring at the statue.

En: "Look, Luka, Matija thinks the statue is a street artist!"

Hr: "Luka je podigao pogled i počeo se smijati.
En: Luka looked up and started laughing.

En: "Matija always finds a way to make us laugh.

En: Do you think we should stop him or give him a little more time?"

Hr: "Ivana se nasmiješi.
En: Ivana smiled.

Hr: "Dajmo mu minutu, tek će biti smješnije kad shvati.
En: "Let's give him a minute, it'll be even funnier when he realizes."

En: Matija continued to talk to the statue, and soon puzzled passersby began to gather around him.

Hr: Jedna djevojčica priđe i pita: "Zašto pričaš s kamenom, gospodine?
En: A little girl approached and asked, "Why are you talking to a stone, sir?"

Hr: "Trenutak kasnije, Matijina zabuna postane jasna i on se zacrveni.
En: A moment later, Matija's mistake became clear, and he blushed.

En: Looking around, he realized everyone was laughing, including Ivana and Luka, who were already in tears from laughter.

Hr: Pridruživši se Ivani i Luki, Matija se nasmijao svom lapsusu.
En: Joining Ivana and Luka, Matija laughed at his blunder.

Hr: "Eh, danas sam ja taj koji Dubrovniku daje nove priče," reče, ne mogavši sakriti osmjeh.
En: "Well, today I am the one giving Dubrovnik new stories," he said, unable to hide his smile.

Hr: Dok su popodnevni sati bježali u noć, troje prijatelja smijehom i razgovorom ispunjavaju staru kavanu.
En: As the afternoon hours fled into the night, the three friends filled the old café with laughter and conversation.

En: Dubrovnik, with its stone streets and mysterious corners, had always been a place of wonders – and that day it gifted a story that would be retold among friends for a long time.

En: In the end, whenever anyone looked at Dubrovnik's stone guardian, they would be reminded of the day when Matija tried to engage the silent statue in conversation, and it became a special story that everyone loved to share.
