TRANSCRIPT:
[00:00] The Stress Therapist: Hey, beautiful people. What's up? Okay, so today you're going to be.[00:03] Listening to a classic Thanksgiving episode of stress therapy. Yes, we're going to be listening to.[00:08] The Stress Therapist: One from the past, A flash from the past, but it's all still so good because you cannot throw a stick without hitting the word gratitude anywhere, Right? Even on the Internet.[00:18] And why? Because it actually works.[00:22] We know now that it works. It makes you feel better, but it's.[00:24] The Stress Therapist: So hard to get into that space. Right? Like, how do you do that? We're going to cover that today.[00:28] So relax and settle in and listen up, because your stress therapy classic edition session is about to begin right now.[00:51] The Stress Therapist: Hey, beautiful people.[00:52] It's time for some stress therapy, a podcast about how to meditate and get better at stress for people living in.[00:58] The Stress Therapist: The real world world. Finally, a place to Park.[01:00] My 25 plus years of experience of working as a psychotherapist in the mental health field. And now your host, me, the stress therapist, Sherry Flake.[01:25] The Stress Therapist: Hey, beautiful people. How's your beautiful self today? So today we're going to talk a little bit about gratitude. You can't throw a stick right now without hitting the word gratitude or being thankful.[01:34] And sometimes it's hard. I get it. It's very hard sometimes to be thankful when it feels like things aren't going your way or it feels like there's horrible things going on in the world that you can't do anything about.[01:43] You might be feeling powerless. It's also a really stressful time of year. It's also a time of year when people are really grappling with grief and loss and holidays pass and there's just a lot.[01:55] Right. But how can you keep it together during this time of gratitude? Well, little by little, you got to figure out what you're going to be grateful for. And that's why people want you to do a gratitude journal.[02:06] Not only because those people are happier and healthier and live longer, but also because it feels good to feel gratitude. It just does, whether you think so or not or you think it's cheesy or not.[02:19] So in the past two weeks, I have been hit by a teenager while driving my car. I love my car. It's a 2018 Chevy. It's amazing. It does have a vanity plate.[02:32] It says Cherubi. You know, get it Therapy. But with a ch like me. Yeah. My husband gave it to me for my birthday. I absolutely love my car. I think it's amazing and wonderful.[02:43] It's got a sunroof. It's got the air conditioned seats. I mean, I'm a huge fan and I've been hit twice. The first time I got hit by a teenager. He rear ended me.[02:55] I was stopped, I wasn't even moving. And I got out of the car and he was pretty upset and he said, would you call my dad? And I said that I would.[03:04] And I said to his dad, who was pretty angry, I said, you know, I don't really have any damage to my car. There's like a scratch. It was like two little scratches.[03:13] And I said, I'm not going to repair this so I can go about my merry way. Because if we call the cops, your boy is going to get ticket and then your insurance is going to go up and then they end up really punishing the parents, insurance companies in this regard, you know.[03:28] So I was like, you know, if you guys are cool with that. And he was really grateful and I left.[03:34] And then last week I was driving down the road in this guy just. I don't know if his foot slipped off the brake or what happened, but another teenager hit me from the side.[03:43] He was coming out of a side street, I was going down a relatively busy street and we pulled over and he again was really upset, you know, a little tearful.[03:52] It's really shaky getting in those accidents, you know what I mean? There's a lot of adrenaline running through. It can be really scary. And so we, you know, we did some calming things.[03:59] I was like, you know, you hit the right person. And so we kind of calmed down a little bit and I was like, you know, right now you don't have to drive.[04:06] Let's just take a couple of breaths, you know, because he was pretty shaken up and my car was damaged. And so I said the same thing. I said, maybe we don't call the cops because then you're going to get a ticket and then your insurance is going to go up.[04:17] And he said, I'm not going to repair this car. This is just my parents junker or whatever. I was like, that's fine. And then he said, would you call my mom?[04:24] And so I called his mom. And we have since worked it out and I gotta tell you, it has been relatively inconvenient to run around and get estimates, especially since I kind of feel like I could get like a lesser one if I can find the right person.[04:38] So I'm a little picky about that even though I'm not paying for it. But I just kind of want to do the right thing rather than the easiest thing in this
