Story Transcript:

En: One day in the sparkling city of Cape Town, there was a young man named Jacques.

En: He was always punctual, neat with his schedule, and dutiful to his routine.

Af: Maar op daardie besige Maandagoggend, sou dinge 'n bietjie anders uitdraai.
En: But on that busy Monday morning, things would turn out a little differently.

En: Jacques briskly walked to the bus stop, his eyes fixed on his watch.

En: "Just five minutes," he told himself, "then the bus will be here."

En: The sun was shining brightly and the streets were filled with the usual bustle of a new week.

En: As the bus approached, Jacques quickly jumped up and waved his ticket.

En: He didn't even notice that the bus looked different than usual, with its bright colors and large windows.

Af: Toe hy instap, het hy dadelik besef iets is verkeerd.
En: When he boarded, he immediately realized something was wrong.

En: In front of him sat a group of excited tourists, cameras in hand and smiles on their faces.

En: Jacques wanted to turn around and get off, but just then the bus doors closed and it pulled away.

Af: Ongelukkig, soos hy was, het niemand hom eers opgemerk nie.
En: Unfortunate as he was, no one even noticed him.

En: They were too busy looking at the guide in the front seat, who was discussing wonders and facts about Cape Town.

En: In a moment of panic, Jacques told one of the tourists, "I'm actually a guide too."

En: The words came out of his mouth faster than he could think.

En: People all turned to look at him, and suddenly all attention was on Jacques.

En: asked a friendly woman with a wide hat.

Af: "Vertel ons dan iets interessant oor ons volgende stop!
En: "Then tell us something interesting about our next stop!"

En: Jacques took a deep breath and looked outside.

En: The bus had stopped at the famous Table Mountain and as he admired the incredible view, he began to speak.

En: "Did you know that Table Mountain is one of the oldest mountains in the world?

Af: Dit is 'n miljoen keer ouer as julle en ek saam!
En: It's a million times older than you and me together!"

En: The tourists laughed and applauded while Jacques just smiled.

En: He decided to go with the story and spoke of abandoned treasures under the sea and secret tunnels under the City Hall.

En: Of course, it was all just a playful fiction, but the tourists hung on his every word.

En: Finally, the bus returned to the starting point.

En: The tourists got up, thanked him, and a few even gave Jacques a tip for his "insightful" tour.

En: With a pocket full of tips and a heart full of adventure, Jacques realized that sometimes taking the wrong bus can take you on an unexpected but wonderful journey.

En: He got off, looked up at the majestic Table Mountain, and thought with a smile about how every ordinary day can become an adventure if you just go along for the ride.

Af: En sedert daardie dag, het Jacques se oggende net 'n bietjie meer opwinding ingehou.
En: And since that day, Jacques's mornings held a bit more excitement.

En: For sometimes, just sometimes, he intentionally caught the tourist bus, ready to tell his new friends another wonderful story or two.
