5 MAY 2025 · The Locked Room Mystery
Detective Sarah Pearson stood in front of the locked room, her brow furrowed in concentration. Inside, the body of millionaire businessman, Robert Montgomery, lay lifeless on the floor. The room was sealed from the inside, with no windows and no other exits. It appeared to be an impossible crime.
As Sarah examined the scene, she noticed a few peculiar details. A half-finished game of chess sat on the table, a cold cup of tea beside it. Robert's cell phone was missing, and his wallet lay open on the desk, devoid of cash.
Sarah interviewed the suspects: Robert's wife, Amelia, who had a solid alibi; his business partner, James, who seemed suspiciously nervous; and the maid, Linda, who claimed to have been cleaning in another part of the house at the time of the murder.
The autopsy revealed that Robert had been poisoned with a rare toxin, administered through his tea. Sarah discovered that James had recently purchased the same poison, claiming it was for a research project.
However, as Sarah delved deeper, she realized that the true culprit was someone no one suspected: Linda, the maid. It turned out that Linda was Robert's estranged daughter from a previous marriage. She had planned the murder meticulously, using James as a scapegoat by stealing his keycard and planting the poison.
Linda had entered the room using the keycard, poisoned Robert's tea, and staged the scene to look like a locked room mystery. She then slipped out, locking the door behind her, and returned the keycard to James's desk.
In the end, Sarah confronted Linda, who confessed to the crime, driven by years of resentment and a desire for revenge against the father who had abandoned her. The case was closed, and Sarah once again proved her unparalleled skills as a detective.
