Rape may be the ugliest of the four-letter words. One in five of all women experience sexual assault. That’s almost 20% of the female population. It’s the woman that delivers your mail, your college professor, the cashier at your grocery store or maybe it’s you. But there’s another word that is just as powerful, it’s hope. Here on A Woman’s Soul: Restored, we’ll be talking about hope. We’ll be talking about how that assault does not define you – or dictate your future, that you should not feel shame, and that you have the potential and deserve to find all of the joy that you are due. You’ll learn to reclaim your power, to believe in you, and rise up with confidence and spirit.

31 MAY 2021 · We have been led into thinking that, if enough time passes by, we will be ok.
Time can be our disfunctional friend and having that status means that we have to know how to deal with our friend. Dates can be triggers for memories. We can relate to a date of a traumatic event and it can put us in a bad place.
As that date approaches, we can experience mental and psychological changes. We may cannot explain it but we definately experience it.
This week, Latonia discusses dates in time and the effect it can have on us. The significance of the date that a traumatic event happens stays engrained in us. We do not have to suppress it but we do need to manage it!
10 MAY 2021 · This is the question that some may ask about the topic of Sexual Truma, Abuse, Domestic Violence, etc.. That maybe if we just do not talk about it, or because it is not in the forefront, that it is not that important.
There is a misconception that it is really not happening that much, and there are way more important issues that can be discussed, so why even spend time on a topic that is not that relevant to current events or may only affect a small population?
This week, Latonia address this very subject, why we have to keep the conversations going, and why these issues are so important to her.
26 APR 2021 · When we go through a tramatic event as an adult, it can destroy your life as you knew it. Faces become the enemy, locations become bad memories, and our mind can put us in a place of unrest mentally and physically.
You are still you in the midst of it all; you just have to reconnect with HER. What can we do to reclaim our authenticity?
How can we move forward when we do not feel like moving at all?
What should we do first? Who can we trust?
This week, Latonia will discuss how to reclaim your Authentic Self.
19 APR 2021 · As we overcome traumatic situations, either from our childhood or adult lives, we can feel a sense of normalcy by being able to live productive lives. We may have thoughts occasionally of what took place in our lives, but the past is tucked back in our minds and we are able to push through to be an active and present individual; or so we thought.
What if we had a reoccurance?
What if something happens to bring us smack back facing our past?
What should we do? What can we do?
This week, Latonia will tackle the subject of a resurfaced traumatic event and how the past can make a full circle in our lives.
18 JAN 2021 · When we are going through a current trial or situation, we can get so troubled until our Past resurfaces itself back into our Now; it can be that stronghold that pulls us back to a place of vulnerability.
As we navigate this thing called Life, it is important to remember that our day-to-day living can be difficult enough without resurging past memories or feeling stuck in current abuse. We do not have to muddle everything together either from our past or currently.
7 DEC 2020 · Safe Shelters are located in different areas across the country. They fight the battle of Domestic Violence on a deeper level. They are not only a safe place for victims and children to reside after leaving an abusive situation but they also teach and restore the victim emotionally. Safe Shelter advocates for victims on so many levels to the point where they are able to stand, and provide, for themselves.Listen in as Latonia interviews Doretha Rice, Program Director for Chatham County Safe Shelter-Center for Domestic Violence Services. Since 1979, SAFE Shelter has been Savannah's only shelter dedicated to all victims of intimate partner violence and their underage children.
9 NOV 2020 · When we go through sexual trauma, particularly domestic violence, the people we are trying to protect end up being the main people we hurt; our children. The children that we think are not listening, that they are sleeping, that we have covered them....that is not true. Their innocence is taken and they are forced to grow up way too soon. Making sure that we not only get aftercare but that the children do as well so that they can become well-adjusted and productive adults. They do not stay little, so our decisions must not be emotional but what is conducive to what best for them.
2 NOV 2020 · There comes a time, in between being victimized and encompassing your victory, when there is an uncertainty that can be confusing and have you questioning or even doubting yourself. The limbo of emotions that are felt right after making the decision not to be a Victim anymore can set up how you get to your Victory. The two words have the first four letters in common, but that is all. Just like these two words start off the same but end differently, it is how you end that makes a world of difference and not the commanality of what you may have gone through!
