15 NOV 2024 · Jesus follows the same structure when He addresses the churches:
Reveal
Reassurance
Rebuke
Repent
Ramifications
Reward
As we've been going through the churches we have been picking apart each part of the structure of the churches! What's interesting is in that, sometimes, Jesus DOESN'T stick to the pattern. That's on purpose, because Jesus wants us to pay attention in these moments. This week, Jesus messes with the pattern. He's done it already with the church in Smyrna, and he does it with the church in Sardis, but in the exact opposite way. So have a listen as our pastoral intern Braden Shannon walks us through the church in Sardis!
We're glad you're here! Let's get into it :)

On our next episode in our Revelation series, we're tackling the fourth church: Thyatira. If you've ever heard the term "Jezebel" thrown about in church communities, you have this passage to thank! Jesus' issue with this church actually centers around a "Jezebel" in their midst. So what does Jesus mean when He tells them that they've been tolerating "Jezebel"? Why is it such a big deal? And what does it mean for us here in 2024? Have a listen and find out!
We're glad you're here, let's get into it :)Â
25 OCT 2024 · There are probably few theological topics more famous than the one we know as "The Rapture". Even if you aren't a Christian, you are probably aware of what it is. They've even based entire secular movies around the concept of the rapture! It's extremely well known... but do you actually KNOW it?
Join us for our second episode in our bonus content series "REVELING in Revelation", where we discuss topics, issues, and aspects related to the book of Revelation that don't necessarily serve the purpose of a lesson at youth group, but are important enough that we need to talk about!
For this episode, we are diving full on into the Rapture. What is the rapture? What is it's history? Who promotes it? Where is the evidence for it in scripture, and can a good argument be made AGAINST the rapture? If you've ever asked one or multiple of these questions, or if you're just interested in the topic, then have a listen!
We're glad you're here, let's get into it :)
18 OCT 2024 · When Jesus addresses each of the seven churches, He follows the same structure:
1.) Intro
2.) Encouragement
3.) Rebuke
4.) Repent
5.) Consequences
6.) Reward
So for each church, we are going to go through this structure, and we're going to unpack what Jesus says. This week, our very own pastoral intern Braden Shannon flew solo as he recorded the lesson he taught at Youth Group this week! So what's the deal with the church in Smyrna? What does it mean to be a "Synagogue of Satan"? And what's the surprising thing about this church? Have a listen to what Braden has to say and find out!
We're glad you're here with us! Let's get into it :)
17 OCT 2024 · When Jesus addresses each of the seven churches, He follows the same structure:
1.) Intro
2.) Encouragement
3.) Rebuke
4.) Repent
5.) Consequences
6.) Reward
So for each church, we are going to go through this structure, and we're going to unpack what Jesus says. So what's Ephesus' deal? What does "the one who holds the seven stars in His right hand, and walks among the seven golden lampstands" have to say to this church? And most importantly, where has the love gone??
We're glad you're here with us! Let's get into it :)
11 OCT 2024 · Jesus has a message for each of the seven churches, and for each church, He follows the same format.
Intro - Jesus introduces Himself in such a way that would mean something for that specific church
Encouragement - Jesus tells the church what they are doing well
Rebuke - Jesus tells the church what they are NOT doing well
Repent - Jesus calls them to repent
Consequences - Jesus tells them what will happen if they DON'T repent
Reward - Jesus shares an eternal reward for "those who conquer"
For this week, we did the church in Pergamum! This church is commended for holding fast to face in INTENSE persecution, but rebuked for some faulty teachings they're adhering to, which adds up to this: Following Jesus means allegiance and adherence. What does that all mean? Have a listen and find out! We're glad you're here, let's get into it :)
27 SEP 2024 · One of the reasons I love the book of Revelation is because it's just absolutely crazy. But the craziness has a purpose to it! Case and point: Jesus shows up in our passage today, but He shows up in a way that is WILDLY different than what we're used to seeing. Most of us, when we think of Jesus, think of that painting in your church where He's holding a little lamb or snuggling a child. We RARELY think of Jesus with eyes on fire, hair white as wool, and a sword coming out of His mouth. Yet this is what we see in our passage today.
But Jesus doesn't show up like this just for fun! He shows up like this for a purpose. So what's the purpose? Have a listen and find out! We're glad you're here, let's get into it :)
20 SEP 2024 · Welcome to our first bonus episode in our Revelation series, a series we are calling "Revelation REWIND"!
The book of Revelation is very much knit together with the end times, which makes sense because Revelation does talk about the end of the world! Believe it or not, there is an official doctrine in the Christian faith that talks about the end times. It's called "Eschatology", and a couple years ago I was asked to teach a class at our church on what that doctrine actually is. During my study, I found it helpful to categorize "eschatology" into two camps:Â
The "open handed" camp, which encompasses all end-times issues that are debated among Christians and theologians (like the rapture, the state of Israel, the anti-Christ, and the millennial).
And the "closed handed" camp, which encompasses all the stuff that is agreed upon by everyone across the board (like Jesus' second coming, the resurrection, final judgment, and restoration).
So if you have ever been interested in eschatology, and if you've ever been intrigued to learn more about what is for certain vs. what is up in the air, have a listen to this episode! We're glad you're here, let's get into it :)
13 SEP 2024 · We're back at it again with Revelation!!!
The book of Revelation is, in my humble opinion, one of the most confusing books in the Bible, if not THE most confusing book. There's dragons, beasts that come from the land and sea, prophets who breathe fire, horsemen, forehead marks, and more. Many people read this and think, "What is happening here?" This, coupled with so much confusing teaching, has made Revelation a book that is very intimidating to many people. So we thought, why not tackle it at Youth Group!
Since we are starting this series, our first episode is dedicated to historical context, because if you do not understand what Revelation would have meant to it's original audience, you'll miss it's overall message. So join us as we unpack who wrote it, who they wrote it too, what every day life was like for a believer at that time, as well as the 3 genres that make up the book.
If you are interested in learning more about Revelation, then welcome! We're glad you're here, let's get into it :)
PS - The mic we used for this episode picked up Braden's voice spendidly, but for some reason I sound like I'm super far away. So if it sounds wonky to you, that's because it is! Bear with us as we figure out how our mic works, we promise it'll sound better next week.
3 MAY 2024 · The Bible is full of stories of God's provision. From the parting of the Red Sea which allowed the Israelites to escape Egypt, to the exorcisms performed by Jesus in the Gospels, God is constantly providing, delivering, and strengthening His people.
In the FINAL episode of our expositional walkthrough of Philippians, we see Paul encourage the Philippians with this truth: God provides. But then he shifts gears a little bit to show them one of the ways God chooses to provide for His people, and in this particular circumstance, God chose to provide for Paul in this way.
So what is the surprising way God chooses to provide for His people? Have a listen and find out! We're glad you're here with us, let's get into it :)
